CHESS FOR KIDS is offering ongoing Friday evening chess classes from 6-8 p.m. All levels of skill are welcome!
The age old game of chess offers several benefits for kids:
- Critical and logical thinking skills
- Improved concentration, pattern recognition, and memory
- Patience, decision-making, planning and sportsmanship skills
- In addition, chess is plain FUN!
We offer a discount of 50% for additional siblings, and scholarships will be considered.
- Class: 6-7pm, Tournament: 7-8pm (advanced class only) WE NOW OFFER A CHESS LADDER!
- Dates: Classes are ONGOING, join anytime! No class on Apr 24th, May 1, May 22, June 5th.
- Fee: $75 for six weeks, can be pro-rated within same session.
- Location: Rincon Valley Christian School, room 24 and 25 (4575 Badger Road)
Regarding the tournament: Membership in the United States Chess Federation in order to participate. A 12 month USCF membership is $17, payable directly to the USCF online at uschess.org. This membership includes becoming part of the national chess rating system, a bi-monthly magazine subscription to “Chess Life for Kids,” and eligibility to participate in all rated chess tournaments.

Next Classes Taught by Paul are
May 29 and July 10Paul has coached scholastic players since 1992. His Students have traveled to the Nationals with Paul and have placed very high in heavy competition. He has coached chess teams at Maria Carrillo High School, Piner High School, Hilliard Comstock Middle School and is currently coaching Herbert Slater Middle School chess team.Paul is a rare chess teacher who is both patient and understanding, as well as having a cultured and informed background. We always enjoy his teaching friday night, which is unusually well prepared and cognizant of his audience.
